A Bengaluru-based community united by their passion for food. Food has a special way of uniting people, especially in a diverse city like Bengaluru where food lovers have endless dining options. The Dastarkhwan Club, a food community in Bengaluru, organizes meet-ups for like-minded individuals to explore local eateries and form lasting friendships. Co-founder Akash Devaraju emphasizes that the group's bond goes beyond just food, encompassing a range of interests centered around their shared love for food. Tharini Thakur, another member, notes that the community is a blend of different passions united by their culinary enthusiasm. The group started small but has grown rapidly, with over 60 members in their WhatsApp group and hundreds of RSVPs for their events. Akash recalls how the group's journey began during an Iftaar meal excursion that sparked a sense of synergy and community spirit, leading to the establishment of the Dastarkhwan Club. The name was inspired by a colleague who likened their gatherings to a "Dastarkhwan." Member Abhishek Gupta appreciates the personal and enriching nature of the club's sessions, highlighting how they offer a unique culinary and historical experience.Visiting someone from Kashmir at their home provided valuable insight into their culture and way of life," he explains. Meghna, another participant, appreciates the unique and thoughtfully curated events where representatives from specific cultures are present to explain everything in detail. The essence of community dining is exemplified through various experiences: Rozana involves visiting a restaurant where the owner shares the culinary history; Safarnama offers food walks exploring different food streets; and Mehfil allows people to open their homes to offer a glimpse of their culture to guests.
